Operation Blessing is rallying more generous hearts to help rebuild lives, homes, and communities severely affected by tropical storm Sendong.
After several weeks of relief missions in Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Misamis and Lanao, OB is keen on bringing rehabilitative programs that will dramatically improve the lot of Sendong’s worst-hit victims.
Dr. Kim April Pascual, Operation Blessing EVP and COO, is on the ground in northern Mindanao to personally assess the many needs of flood-swept communities and displaced families.
“What we are doing now is simply meeting their immediate needs—food, water, and healthcare. But obviously, this just scratches the surface,” says Dr. Pascual.
“We can help them get back on their feet with lasting projects—livelihood assistance, reconstruction of houses, and drilling of community wells.”
As of January 19, OB has served a total of over 52,253 storm victims in northern Mindanao. Families received mats, blankets, hygiene kits, bottled water, and toys for traumatized kids. Medical missions were held in affected cities and towns, while local volunteers banded together to rid mud and garbage in more than 200 households in Cagayan de Oro.
