Operation Blessing recently held a successful dental and surgical mission in ABS-CBN Foundation’s Bayanijuan community in Calauan, Laguna.
For more than a year, Operation Blessing has helped this resettlement community holistically, providing residents with healthcare assistance, as well as lessons on moral and spiritual values.
Bayanijuan is the synergy of ABS-CBN Foundation’s corporate social responsibility programs, as described by Sheila Estabillo, coordinator of ABS-CBN Foundation’s Bantay Bata. Its mission is to unite private sectors and non-government organizations to help rejuvenate and fortify the country by going to each community and interacting with them personally.
Bayanijuan has worked hand in hand with the National Housing Authority to give new homes to 5,100 urban poor families who were relocated to Calauan. Aside from providing improved settlement, Bayanijuan has collaborated with Operation Blessing to supply its residents with necessities for the community, including construction of 19 deep wells, so the residents can have access to safe, potable water.
“Operation Blessing has helped us in many ways,” Estabillo said. “They have addressed the health problems in Bayanijuan. The logistical requirements and manpower that we cannot provide, Operation Blessing has supplemented.”
Operation Blessing has also provided low-income families in Bayanijuan with small-scale livelihood projects, including rug making, rice retailing, and soap making.
Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines is the humanitarian arm of Christian Broadcasting Network Asia, producer of the daily inspirational show The 700 Club Asia. For the past 16 years, it has been doing outreach programs in communities like Bayanijuan to transform lives for the better.
